Opening of literacy centers in Burkina Faso

In 2012, in Burkina Faso, the OLVEA Group Philanthropic Fund has participated in the opening of 5 literacy centers with the association “RPBHC”.

The RPBHC is the Network of Producers of Shea butter in the regions of Tops-ponds and Waterfalls. Created in 2008, it counts more than 3 900 members today. Its main goal is the socioeconomic and cultural development of the woman.

Thus, from February till June 2012, 152 registered persons were able to learn reading, writing and counting, as well as they benefited from the valuation of these experiences in the common life. With its fame and its success, this campaign had counted among its participants about 90 % of women, instead of the 65 % planned initially. This initiative was technically followed and accompanied by the Ministry of Education and literacy of Burkina Faso.

Facing its success, 2 other literacy campaigns were launched and financed by the Philanthropic Fund of the OLVEA Group in 2013 and 2014, allowing  more than 150 persons each year to follow this teaching in the centers.
